Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches U.S. telephone numbers in common formats: an optional country code digit, a 3-digit area code (optionally in parentheses), and a 7-digit local portion with space/hyphen separators—or a 7-character alphanumeric vanity number. Negative lookaheads at the start reject numbers beginning with toll-free area codes (800, 855, 866, 877, 888), premium rate codes (900, 976), and 000. Ideal for form validation where only reachable personal or business lines should be accepted. The multiline flag enables matching one number per line.
