Validates UK postcodes such as 'M1 1AE' or 'DN55 1PT' by capturing the outward code (1-2 letters followed by 1-2 digits) and the inward code (one digit then two letters), with optional whitespace between them. Case-insensitive and multiline-aware, it works well for form validation or extracting postcodes from address lists, though it misses rarer letter-containing districts like 'EC1A 1BB'.
