Matches either a function-call style pattern like tag(value), where a word is immediately followed by a parenthesized word (capturing the name and argument in groups 1 and 2), or alternatively a standalone bare word (captured in group 3). Useful for simple tokenizers or mini-parsers handling syntaxes such as color(red) alongside bare tags like bold.
