Build, test, and debug regular expressions
With global and multiline flags, this regex matches either everything from the start of a line up to and including the first closing square bracket (useful for stripping log-style prefixes like '[INFO]' or '[2024-01-01]'), or alternatively a run of word characters followed by a literal dot, captured in group 1 (handy for detecting abbreviations, initials, or file names). Commonly used in log cleanup, bracketed-header removal, and text preprocessing tasks.
