Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches software version strings composed of one, two, or three dot-separated numeric components, each with 1-3 digits (e.g., '5', '1.20', '2.1.315'). Anchored with ^ and $, and used with global (g) and multiline (m) flags, it can extract or validate multiple version numbers across lines of text. Commonly used for simple semantic version validation, though it won't match pre-release suffixes like '-beta' or build metadata.
