Build, test, and debug regular expressions
A jQuery-source regex that strips HTML whitespace (space, tab, CR, LF, form feed) from the start and end of lines in CSS selector strings. The second alternative captures preceding content, including backslash-escaped character pairs, so escaped whitespace (e.g. '\ ') is preserved rather than trimmed. Used with String.replace under global/multiline flags to normalize selectors for parsing.
