Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches numeric ranges formatted as number-number, where each side can be a decimal (e.g., 3.14) or an integer (e.g., 42), optionally preceded by a single leading space. The pattern captures three groups: the first number, the hyphen separator, and the second number, making it easy to extract both endpoints. Note that the unescaped dot matches any character, so unintended inputs like '10a5-20' would also pass. Commonly used for parsing result ranges, score ranges, or value spans in text.
