Matches Twitter-style hashtags (# followed by word characters) and mentions (@ followed by letters, digits, or underscores) only when they appear at the start of a line/string or after whitespace or non-word characters. Intended for cleaning tweet text by removing mentions and hashtags. Uses global and multiline flags to process every line and occurrence.
