Matches the last occurrence of the letter 'e' in a string by using a negative lookahead to ensure no other 'e' appears later. This is a common technique for removing or replacing only the final instance of a character, such as stripping a trailing separator from a list. Works in PCRE and other flavors that support lookaheads.
