Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches integers or decimal numbers such as 123 or 3.14, optionally followed by an exponent marker (E or e) and one or more non-digit characters, e.g. 2.5eABC. The gm flags find all occurrences across each line of text. Note that the exponent part uses \D+ (non-digits) rather than digits, which deviates from standard scientific notation and may be a typo for \d+.
