Intended to match full names like 'John Smith' by capturing letter sequences separated by whitespace. However, the character class [A-z] is a common typo that unintentionally includes symbols between 'Z' and 'a' such as [ \ ] ^ _ `. Additionally, the * quantifiers allow empty matches, making it too permissive for real name validation. A safer version would use [A-Za-z]+ for stricter matching.
