Matches a valid PHP variable name (excluding the leading $ sigil). The first character must be a letter, underscore, or a byte in the range 0x7f-0xff, which PHP permits for extended/high ASCII characters. Subsequent characters may additionally include digits. Commonly used for validating PHP identifiers, tokenizing PHP source, or syntax highlighting.
