This regex matches PHP-serialized data values, covering NULL (N;), booleans, integers, and doubles ([bdi]:...), length-prefixed strings (s:n:"..."), arrays (a:n:{...}), and objects with class names (O:n:"ClassName":n:{...}). It is commonly used to detect or validate serialized PHP payloads, such as in security scanning for unsafe unserialize() input, debugging, or data migration tasks.
