Build, test, and debug regular expressions
This pattern matches numeric values consisting of an optional minus sign, one or more digits, and an optional trailing decimal point (e.g., 123, -456, 78.). It is useful for extracting signed integers or numbers with a dangling dot from text, such as in basic number parsing or data extraction tasks. Note that full decimals like 3.14 are not matched as a whole—the fractional digits would be captured as separate matches.
