Matches hierarchical numbering at the start of a line, such as 1, 2.1, or 3.4.5.6. Each level allows 1-3 digits (up to 999), and up to 9 levels are supported (an initial number plus up to 8 dotted segments). With the multiline and global flags, it is ideal for parsing or extracting multilevel list numbering from outlines, wikis, and structured documents.
