Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches any string of at least 6 characters by splitting it into three capture groups: the first 3 characters, the next 3 characters, and everything remaining. Since the dot matches any character except newlines in JavaScript, this is a generic pattern for chunking strings into fixed-size segments. It's commonly used for parsing numeric codes, IDs, or phone-like numbers where the first six characters must be extracted separately from the rest.
