Test, validate and match regular expressions
Matches runs of whitespace characters, but only when the remainder of the string contains an even (balanced) number of single or double quotes, ensuring the whitespace lies outside quoted regions. This makes it ideal for splitting or normalizing whitespace in strings with quoted segments, such as CSV fields, shell command arguments, or config values, where spaces inside quotes must be preserved while those outside are collapsed or used as delimiters.
