Build, test, and debug regular expressions
This regex validates a device name or identifier with a maximum length of 8 characters. It enforces that the first character must be an alphabetic letter. Subsequent characters (up to 7 more) can be alphanumeric, underscores, or hyphens, but the very last character cannot be a hyphen or underscore if the string reaches the maximum length of 8. It is useful for strict naming conventions in network or system configurations.
