Test, validate and match regular expressions
This regular expression is designed to loosely match time formats by extracting 1 to 2 digits for the hour, optionally followed by a colon and 1 to 2 digits for the minutes. It also optionally captures " a.m" or " p.m", though the unescaped period acts as a wildcard matching any character. Due to its lenient structure, it does not enforce strict clock constraints, meaning strings like "33:20 p.m" or "12:30 xM" will successfully match. It is best utilized for basic time data extraction in Python where strict validation is handled separately.
