This regular expression captures two groups at the beginning of a line: the non-numeric prefix and the first sequence of digits. It is useful for parsing strings like filenames, IDs, or labels that combine text and numbers, such as extracting 'file' and '123' from 'file123'. The multiline flag ensures it matches the start of any line.
