This regex matches zero or more consecutive newline or tab characters. It is useful for matching whitespace sequences in text processing tasks like parsing formatted text, cleaning up indentation, or skipping over blank lines and spacing between content. The asterisk quantifier means it matches empty strings as well, so it will always succeed at any position in the input.
