This regex validates basic email address formats by matching the local part (before @), domain name, and top-level domain. It accepts lowercase letters, digits, underscores, dots, and hyphens in the local part, and restricts TLDs to 2-6 lowercase characters. Suitable for basic form validation where strict RFC compliance isn't required.
