Regex Tester & Validator

This regular expression is designed to match Dutch postal codes, typically consisting of four digits followed by an optional space and two letters. It uses PCRE named capture groups, `zipcode_digits` and `zipcode_chars`, to separately extract the numerical and alphabetical portions of the zip code. The inline comments provide readability, and the case-insensitive flag allows the trailing letters to be matched regardless of case.
