Build, test, and debug regular expressions
This regular expression matches sequences of four 1 to 3 digit numbers separated by any single character. It is commonly intended to validate or extract IPv4 addresses. However, because the dot (`.`) is not escaped with a backslash, it acts as a wildcard and will match any character between the digit groups, not just a literal period. For strict IPv4 matching, you should escape the dots.
