This regex matches a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) in standard format: the literal '10.' prefix, a registrant code of at least four digits, an optional suffix up to the first slash, and a final suffix of one or more characters. It avoids whitespace, quotes, and angle brackets to skip HTML tags or quoted strings. Common use cases include extracting or validating DOIs from academic papers, bibliographies, and web content.
