This regex matches simple key-value assignment statements in the form `key=value;`. The key can contain word characters (letters, digits, underscores) and dots, while the value can also include hyphens. It is useful for parsing configuration files, log entries, or any text containing semicolon-terminated assignments. With the global and multiline flags, it extracts all matches across multiple lines.
