Matches a date in compact YYYYMMDD format where month and day may be one or two digits, capturing the year, month, and day in named groups. Useful for transforming such dates into dash-delimited format or extracting date components for validation. Works with multiline input due to gm flags, but note the pattern is unanchored, so it finds the first occurrence in each line.
