Build, test, and debug regular expressions
This regex extracts the root domain (second-level domain and TLD) from a URL, ignoring the protocol (http, https, ftp) and any leading subdomains. It works with or without the '//' after the scheme and captures a domain-like pattern such as 'example.com'. Use cases include URL analysis, domain whitelisting, or logging only the base domain from full URLs.
