This regex matches a simplified UK postcode format with two letters, a digit, a letter, a space, and then a digit followed by two letters. It is case-insensitive, so it accepts both uppercase and lowercase postcodes. Commonly used for basic validation of UK postcodes in web forms and data entry systems. Note that it may not cover all legitimate UK postcode variants.
