Matches open reading frames (ORFs) in nucleotide sequences, beginning with a start codon (ATG or AUG) and ending with the first in-frame stop codon (TAA, TAG, TGA or UAA, UAG, UGA). The lookahead allows overlapping matches, making it useful for finding all potential ORFs in both DNA and RNA sequences. Commonly applied in genomics, gene prediction, and synthetic biology.
