Matches branch names in GitLab CI/CD pipelines including 'master', any branch containing 'release', or branches following the 'tag/*' pattern. Commonly used in GitLab CI rules to prevent jobs from running automatically on these protected or release branches. Note that due to alternation precedence, 'release' matches anywhere in the branch name rather than just at the start.
